The Senate will consider Missour’s ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment on February 19, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. in the Senate Lounge. UUFJC’s Social Action Committee submitted signatures on the following letter to the Senate in advance of the hearing and encourages all to join them in their support of equal rights for women:
Our Unitarian Universalist Principles affirm “the inherent worth and dignity of every person” and call for “justice, equity and compassion in human relations.” Yet, in the United States women are still deprived of equal Constitutional rights, equal salaries, equal access to positions of responsibility and equal treatment.
The Social Action Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Jefferson City, and the persons listed on the attached page, urge you to pass Senate Committee Resolution No. 6, relating to the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment.
