"Faith and Film" (or another such series, "Popcorn Theology"), reminds us that one strength of Unitarian Universalism is its openness to playfulness. Some of us have been wounded when the meaning we found in entertainment media was rejected by other faith communities, but as UU World magazine pointed out several years ago, UUs are often more welcoming to "geeks" and other fans. Popular culture, like ancient scripture, should be read with care and discernment if it is to guide us, but sometimes we can find in it reflections of ourselves and our values that enliven our spiritual path.
