UUFJC Newsletter: Flame on the Water, October 2023
Though I did not hear the message myself, Rev. Nancy's title conjures the thought that our personal heritages do not always shape us in the way of treasured legacies, but sometimes as examples we wish to "renounce, denounce," and strike out from in search of something different. Many of us come to our UU faith in just such a search, and our Fellowship can be a source of comfort and healing in such a case. But let us not stop with renouncing and denouncing. Let our healing allow us to look with clear eyes at our heritage and own any good it may have done us, as well as the parts of it we can't accept. Let our healing give us the peace and confidence to "announce" where we've been, as well as where we've come to and where we are going.

The restoration of our building after our recent fire continues, although we still expect it to be some time before we can move back. If you have any questions about the state of the restoration, please contact our board president, Rich Burdge
An independent Insight Meditation group taught by Joe McCormack meets at our building Thursday nights at 7 pm, when possible. Zoom may also be available. For more information, contact Bob Antweiler.
Next Sunday, October 15th, the UUFJC Worship Team meets at 4:30 pm. To get involved in creating our Sunday services, please contact our vice president, Lisa Sanning.
Our building (when available) is reserved by community groups Wednesdays and Saturdays starting at 6 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 pm. If you have access to our building, please allow privacy at these times.
