So what is it that we put in this center? How is it that we look at history --- or, if we look honestly, at ourselves --- and find fear and hatred there? Nancy acknowledged that Sanctuary can fill a need for protection, but she cautioned us about defining our sacred places by what we keep out lest we make exclusion itself sacred to us. Better, she suggested, to focus on the gathering in of what is holy, what anchors us in meaning and in beautiful uncertainty.

Again this year, we will be displaying a Memorial Altar at the Fellowship. If you would like to contribute a remembrance in the form of a picture or favored object associated with a departed loved one, items will be collected in a box near the cafe bar now through next Sunday, October 28th. The altar will be up from October 28th until November 4th with objects and pictures returned November 11th. If there are any questions concerning this year's altar please contact Bob Boldt.
