Sunday we remembered one of those people: Michael Servetus, a 16th century Spaniard who was burned at the stake for rejecting the doctrines of the Trinity and of infant baptism. Patt Behler told us about his story. More information about Michael Servetus is available online at the Michael Servetus Institute.
Then, Katherine Connor and Sharon Morgan talked about what it means to them to be UUs today. Thankfully we're not in danger of being burnt at the stake these days, but our reason and conscience still call on us to challenge our own societies, a challenge that is never-ending and constantly evolving. Katherine shared the words of another faith forebear, a Universalist who was asked what Universalists stood for. His answer: "We do not stand at all --- we move."
Next Sunday, November 1st:

Message: "Is the Fordite in your Life a Fake?," Rev. Mike Adamek
At Gem and Mineral Shows you pay 50 dollars for a gem the size and weight of a penny. Fordite is a synthetic not a naturally occurring substance. Does that make it a fake? Have there been events in your life which critics would have labeled fake but which were pearls of great price to you?
If you have a joy or concern that you would like to have read during the Service, please submit it through our website: http://uufjc.org/joys--concerns.html
