But You Promised

9/19/2016

“But you promised," may be the words that ring in our ears when we struggle with an old covenant.  Rev. Nancy explored what it means to make and break covenants.  She played an old Kris Kristofferson song, “To Beat the Devil” and explored how we sometimes try to get something for nothing when we negotiate covenants.  She also noted that “A covenant is an agreement made out of our deepest needs and our greatest self-awareness; it is relational and binding and it has implications that reach into the very foundations of the universe.”  None the less sometimes we must break covenant when we are getting nothing for something.

Next Sunday, September 25th:

Adult Forum - 9:15 am
"Who is Caring for the Baby Boom Generation?," Mary Schantz
Guest Mary Schantz will give a presentation.  Who is caring for the baby-boom generation?  What are the workforce issues impacting care?  How can the workers be paid a fair wage and you, as a consumer, pay a fair price?

Message: "Living Our Covenant."
In a sermon titled "The Grammar of Ritual and Life," Alexis will play with the different registers of language and how they can help us evaluate our practices/rituals and actions within our Fellowship and as individuals.
