Message: "Proactive People Carry Their Own Weather with Them," Rev. Mike Adamek
We must look at the lens through which we see the world, as well as at the world we see. We think we see the world as it is. More often the world we see has been shaped by the way we understand and organize it unconsciously. We all have this metaphorical lens through which we live our lives. We don’t believe what we see. We see what we believe. How might such a simple insight improve our lives?

Community Events this week:
This Tuesday, February 23rd, Missouri River Regional Library hosts "Nonfiction at Noon" in the Library Annex. Discussion title: "The Relevance of Religion: How Faithful People Can Change Politics" by John Danforth, former U.S. Senator from Missouri, ambassador to the United Nations, and an ordained Episcopal priest. His new book has been called both “a plea and a warning.” Contact Madeline Matson.
Thursday, February 25th, MRRL also presents "The Saga of the Pacific Railroad of Missouri" at 7 pm in the Art Gallery. Today the Pacific Railroad of Missouri is an active and busy part of the Union Pacific Railroad. However, its early days were beset by engineering, financial and political turmoil culminating in the Civil War. Still, the railroad survived and completed its line to Kansas City in 1865. Nick Fry, curator of the John W. Barriger III National Railroad Library, will discuss the early plans of the Pacific Railroad of Missouri, its construction, and the many challenges that it overcame during its first 15 years of existence. Contact Madeline Matson.
Next Sunday, February 28th at 1:30 pm in the MRRL Art Gallery, join the library's new Creative Cuisine Club for a little edible education. Every other month, we’ll choose a specific cuisine or style of food. This month's theme: Comfort Food! You can sign up to make something in that style—appetizer, main dish, dessert, etc. Get a recipe from one of our cookbooks or from one of your own. Then just make the dish and bring it in to share with others in the group, as they share theirs with you. It’s a fun way to cook, eat and learn as you enjoy a great meal with a group of new friends. Contact Madeline Matson.
