UUFJC Newsletter: Flame on the Water, June 2023
This morning, Rev. Nancy TannerThies joined us for our first service of the summer, and our Children's Religious Education class began their monthly theme: "Delight." Adults, too, can find spiritual grounding in Delight, as in these words by adrienne maree brown:
"Pleasure reminds us to enjoy being alive and on purpose... Pleasure—embodied, connected pleasure—is one of the ways we know when we are free. That we are always free. That we always have the power to co-create the world. Pleasure helps us move through the times that are unfair, through grief and loneliness, through the terror of genocide, or days when the demands are just overwhelming. Pleasure heals the places where our hearts and spirit get wounded. Pleasure reminds us that even in the dark, we are alive. Pleasure is a medicine for the suffering that is absolutely promised in life… Pleasure is the point. Feeling good is not frivolous, it is freedom."
For those who would also like to keep up with our neighbors at the UU Church of Columbia, their service from this morning is available to view online:

For children and adults: sun screen, summer caps and hats, flip flops, beach towels, etc. Some nice summer food donations include BBQ sauce, mustard and ketchup, juice, and anything you can think of. Due to the summer heat, we cannot stock canned goods at this time. For more donation ideas and information, contact Joan Kurtzeborn.
