After the sermon, members and friends were invited to share what makes them feel welcome, and we heard many different answers: being greeted by name (and hearing their children greeted by name), finding things to do together, having others show interest in them and really get to know them.... What about you?
If you missed the service, Rev. Lavanhar's sermon can be viewed online as part of this video from the UUA: https://youtu.be/smFdt8cQC_Q

UUFJC News and Events this week:
The time is coming for our Fellowship's tradition of an altar honoring the dead and the October holidays. Starting next Sunday, October 16th, you are invited to bring pictures and mementos of people special to you who have passed away (family, friends, or famous), and other decorations you would like to have considered for inclusion. For more information, contact Bob Boldt.
We are in the process of decluttering our building, to make more breathing room for ourselves and more space to invite the new. If you have left any items at the Fellowship that you want to reclaim or want to make sure aren't discarded, please pick them up at your earliest opportunity.
We have made an adjustment to our Joys and Concerns submission form (see the link above for the online version). You can now grant permission for your Joys and Concerns to be shared via e-mail. Please note the check-boxes carefully when submitting; we take your privacy very seriously and will not assume permission to share if you don't check those options.
We currently have paintings on display by our own Patt Behler. The works are available unframed as silent auction items with a percentage offered to UUFJC’s general fund. Please contact Patt Behler or Roberta Dunkel if you would like to place a bid.
Monday, October 9th at 7 pm is the monthly UUFJC Lecture Series. Jenny Smith, a retired forensic chemist with the Missouri Highway Patrol, will speak on “Duct Tape as Evidence.” See Carol Bontempo or Frank Rycyk.
The Transgender Support Group meets this Thursday, October 13th at 7 pm.
