Yesterday, both our Forum led by Bob Boldt and our Sunday message by Don Love focused on the German philosopher Hannah Arendt. Arendt is most famous for the idea of "The Banality of Evil," developed in response to the trial of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann. Eichmann argued (truly or not) that he was "just following orders," not acting out of malice. Arendt responded with the insight that the most pernicious form of evil is not the malice of a monster, but the "banality" of someone who refuses to think for themselves about the morality of their actions.

This Monday, July 14th, The Pantry is holding an open house at Table of Grace from 6-8 pm. The Pantry aims to help empower people to make better food choices and prepare home-cooked meals, and our Social Action Committee plans to support them with quarterly food drives. Also Monday evening, at 6:30 pm, the Worship Service Committee will be meeting at the Fellowship. All are welcome. Contact Carol Bontempo.
