This morning, we shared a recent message from our neighbors at the UU Church of Columbia. Intern Minister George Grimm-Howell explored the lessons of the signature change in nature this time of year. As the trees drop their leaves, they teach us lessons about letting go and about revealing our truth without shame, even when that truth is crooked or scarred by the storms we have been through. The trees teach us that each individual is beautiful in their imperfection, but also that we are each part of something greater. Recent discoveries show that trees communicate and support one another, and this can remind us of those who have supported us and whom we can support. To let go of the old, to let our true selves be seen, and to live in beloved community --- truly, the trees have much to teach us.
