Monday is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, a natural time for darkness, stillness, and reflection. This year is especially challenging: many of us have an extra weariness, but also an extra restlessness after so much unseasonable isolation already. Rev. Nancy encouraged us to think of this time not as isolation but as hibernation, the way animals see themselves through the lean times and the earth quietly nurtures the nutrients and seeds of the future. In this stillness, especially in this challenging year, we can listen and look deep within ourselves, reflect on what is seeing us through, what is being nurtured within us. We can listen and look to what lies outside our own stillness and comfort and how we can connect with care and build a broader peace.

This Friday, December 27th is also the usual date for our monthly Salvation Army meal, although sometimes we are not needed during the holidays. If you would like to help prepare and serve food for those in need, contact Bob Antweiler at [email protected].
Our building is reserved by community groups Wednesdays and Saturdays starting at 6 pm; Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 pm; and Sundays starting at 7 pm. If you have access to our building, please allow privacy at these times.
