Sunday, February 13
This morning, we were welcomed to join our neighbors at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbia for a multigenerational Valentine's Day service focused on the interdependent web of love that connects us all. As UUs we often profess our faith in this connecting, supporting love, but it is not enough to say the words. We are called to make that web of love real, vital, visible and tangible. We do this with our many acts of service, whether in personal relationships or in social justice work. But, Rev. Molly Housh-Gordon pointed out, interdependence requires us not only to give but also to receive. It can be difficult for some of us to even connect with our own needs, but if we only help and refuse to be helped, we isolate ourselves and degrade the web just as surely as if we refuse to give. Opening our needs to others is vulnerable work, and we have all been let down, but the voice telling us we will always be let down is the voice of oppression. We must find the courage to open ourselves again and again to share both our gifts and our needs in a thriving web of love.

This Thursday, February 17th at 6:30 pm in their Art Gallery, Missouri River Regional Library presents: "Cryptocurrency: Investment or Gamble?" Bitcoin, Ethereum, crypto mining, blockchain—you might have seen these terms in news stories about the future of money. If you’re wondering how crypto operates and what investment in this form of currency involves, Roger P. Dudenhoeffer, executive vice-president and mortgage lending manager with Jefferson Bank, will provide some definitions and answers in an informative presentation on the safety and stability of tomorrow’s money today. Can we bank on it? Contact Madeline Matson. For more on library events, visit MRRL.org.
