We remembered the roles women played in the history of our Unitarian Universalist faith. Patt Behler told us in particular about Sophia Lyon Fahs, who shaped UU Religious Education. You can learn more about her in this UU World article: uuworld.org/articles/sophia-lyon-fahs-revolutionary-educator
Those attending also had a chance to name the influential women in their lives and the ways in which those women had inspired them, each person choosing a hand-crafted flower in honor of those women. In the end we had a never-wilting bouquet to symbolize how the "seeds" those women planted have grown and blossomed in our lives.
Other tributes took the form of pictures and writings which will remain on display through next Sunday. Please have a look and talk with your fellow members and friends about what they've shared!
Next Sunday, June 5th:

"The Psychology of Radicalization," Frank Rycyk
U.S. District Judge Michael Davis has recruited a researcher from Germany to evaluate a group of young Somali-American men who attempted to travel overseas to join "Islamic State."

Message: "If God is known only by symbol or metaphor, is God still God?," Rev. Mike Adamek
When a literary artist uses a concrete or perceptible thing to suggest something abstract and not clearly defined, she is using symbolism. A symbol implies rather than explicitly states meaning which means that symbolism is a comparison of two things, only one of which is clearly stated. Is this not an essential component to any definition of God? What good is a map if it is never the territory, never a walk through the garden?
