October newsletter: UUFJC Newsletter: Flame on the Water, October 2022
Sunday, October 16, 2022:
This morning, Dick Dalton joined us for a message on "The Judging Virus." This contagion, common in our culture, drives us to judge others as "good" or "bad" and as "better" or "worse" than ourselves. It takes courage to embrace the truth that we do not have to be better than others to be worthy, and that everyone is more complex than good or bad, better or worse. But that courage is well worth it. As Dalton wrote, "Healing/forgiveness comes when we deliberately and consistently substitute a different belief" for these contagious temptations of judgment.
For those who would like to keep up with our neighbors at the UU Church of Columbia, their service message from this morning is available to view online: https://youtu.be/qJDua1STxps
