UUFJC Newsletter: Flame on the Water, December 2023
Yesterday morning, we continued our month of reflections on Mystery with a message from our wider UU community via video. Rev. Jennifer Innis of the UU Church of Peoria spoke earlier this month about mystery as truth revealed in the dark that we cannot see in the light, as a darkness that sparks our curiosity and draws us into an intimate experience of being on the precipice of the unknown. Respecting and exploring mystery is one of the things at the heart of our UU faith tradition. Drawing from Gordon McKeeman, Rev. Innis marveled at how the universe can hold everything --- all our joy and all our pain, all that we know, and more than we can ever know.

The restoration of our building is coming along! We're not ready to move back just yet, but we hope to have a work day there some Saturday soon. Volunteers will be much appreciated, and the stars may align on short notice, so please stay tuned! Contact our president, Rich Burdge, for the latest.

An independent Insight Meditation group taught by Joe McCormack meets at our building Thursday nights at 7 pm, when possible. Zoom may also be available. For more information, contact Bob Antweiler.
Next Sunday, December 17th, the UUFJC Board meets at 3 pm at our building (construction permitting). All are welcome to attend our board meetings. For agenda and more information, contact our president, Rich Burdge.
Our building (when available) is reserved by community groups Wednesdays and Saturdays starting at 6 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 pm. If you have access to our building, please allow privacy at these times.
