Sunday morning, Rev. Nancy reflected on the winter solstice --- the longest night of the year, the point in the year when the light of the sun is weakest. This year that depth of darkness seems even darker than usual, coming after Paris, San Bernardino, Colorado Springs... But Rev. Nancy reminded us to take comfort in nature's lesson: that the deep dark is only one point in the cycle, that even in dark times, the light lives on in each of us, and it will grow strong again.

"Deep South: Four Seasons on Back Roads" by Paul Theroux will be the title under discussion. Theroux, one of the nation’s finest travel writers and novelists, describes his travels throughout the rural South and offers insight into an often-misunderstood region, its people and customs.
