Last Sunday morning, Rev. Mike told us about a recent experience at a gem and mineral show where he encountered a rare substance known as Fordite. It turned out the name was appropriate because Fordite is not the kind of gem mined from a rare seam of earth like a diamond, but is instead the hard-baked, up-cycled, many-layered residue of hundreds of factory car paint jobs. Today as we commemorated All Souls Day, Rev. Mike reflected that some of us don't believe in the more supernatural aspects of that day's origin, but we can all treasure the many-layered gifts we have received from the lives of the people who have come before us, and we can hope to add our own layer of color to the gems we hand on to those to come.

Message: "Character Studies," Dr. Sharon Buzzard
What is character? How do we get it, how do others achieve it? In short, is the expectation of “character” in a person a reasonable one, or is it as outdated in a ‘whatever’ kind of world?
