Rev. Nancy shared several, and I'll add one more, from (you guessed it) Japan:
The Goddess of the Sun had been fighting with her brother, the God of Storms, and at one point she got so upset that she hid herself in a cave, plunging the world into darkness. The other gods hit upon a solution and threw a big celebration at the mouth of the cave. The sounds of revelry piqued the Sun Goddess' curiosity, and she went and peeked out. When she did, she was stunned by a dazzling light — her own reflection in a sacred mirror. The other gods pulled her out and placed a holy seal on the mouth of the cave, bringing light to the world once again.
Another story of a celebration in the darkness to summon back the light.
