Sunday we had a multigenerational service on Peace. The RE class shared readings and stories, and Katherine Connor shared her thoughts on peace. To make peace with yourself, she advised, you need to be honest with yourself, accept yourself as you are, and be willing to forgive yourself. The same principles of honesty, acceptance, and forgiveness can apply not just to peace within, but to peace with others, too.
Later, we broke into groups and chose words to put on peace stones for the base of our Peace Pole. The words we chose: Loving, Harmony, Serenity, Fairness, and Patience.

January is the coldest and the darkest month of the year. It is a time of introspection and reflection especially during the burrowed intimate nights. A time when personal resolutions meet personal realities and the person you want to be is never the person you are. What if this year, instead of resolving to be different, you faced the little deaths without self serving platitudes but real acceptance?
